Runaway horses, releasing; brakes.-The pole a of a two-horse vehicle is secured in a socket b by a bolt f fixed to a lever e pivoted to a bracket c. The whipple-trees t are held in jaws t<1> by pins h<1> which-are-also connected to the lever e by rods h. On pulling the lever e, the whipple-trees and the pole are released simultaneously. The lever e is also arranged to apply the brakes i. The lever may be actuated by a screw and a hand-wheel.
